There is only one family in Afghanistan that still produces this glass in Herat. As it is made by hand using the simplest of methods, each piece is unique. 

A photo shows the citadel of Herat in the background before the catastrophic earthquake. No historic building in the province was spared at the beginning of October 2023.

The last picture shows the transport from Herat to Kabul using German coaches from the 1980s.
